>Trying to declutter my life
>Putting everything I haven't used in a year into boxes which I'll either throw out, or maybe try to sell
>Literally tons of shit I own, hard to throw it out because they work just fine and I "could" use them
>Realise how much money I've wasted
Any other anons tried to de-clutter their life, it's too fucking hard.

Yeah I even threw out all my plates. I eat off tinfoil or I just eat mcdonalds and subway. Im pretty sure I will get beamed up by the aliens soon anyways, theres obviously not any reason for this reality to continue.

i have an old xbox 360 with a broken disc drive, cant muster the courage to throw it away. i dont think you can even replace it, because the console does some sort of id check on the hardware when it boots and wont accept another disc drive, to be functional.

Old gaming stuff is almost worthless because you can easily just torrent everything. They actually let you torrent the stuff because the games are so filled up with brainwashing that they will basically beg you to play it. But they do need money to actually produce the new games lol, so yeah thats why its like that.

Gratz on having OCD and being mentally ill. Hoarding is a subgenre of the OCD family last time I checked the DSM-V. You people usually turn into VERY gross old people who live in a clutter filled home of cat piss, trash, fire hazards, etc.

I know this feel. I am doing a final declutter this year. I estimate it will be about $15k worth of stuff that I tossed, donated, or sold cheap. It is hard to admit I wasted so much money.

There is no point, I will just clutter it all up again

Everyone wastes money on shit they don't need. Learning not to do that and improving your living situation by throwing out junk, that's a skill to be learned.

I went to home depot, bought a dozen plastic tubs, fileed them, and got rid of everything all at once, taking things to goodwill if they were good and the dumpster if they were useless. Since then have lived minimally. It feels so much better to not be tied to a thousand stupid possessions. Gather everything and remove it from your life. In 24 hours. I did it drunk. Don't think about the value or the usefulness of the items. Just don't.

Can't you homebrew it?

not technically inclined for that.

for whatever reason the xbox is a massive pain in the ass to do anything with. the ps3 and wii take a couple minutes to homebrew. the xbox needs some chip you buy online.

Yeah but it'd kill me to throw everything away. I have collectibles and unopened useful things like a touch lamp, kitchen mixer, etc
Do any other americans know what is better for offloading items- facebook marketplace, nextdoor, or craigslist? I don't want to sell on ebay or deal with shipping

facebook marketplace is nice because you can look at the person's profile and judge their entire life. if its some white person with a job and a family, go ahead and meet up. if its some nigger, you don't have to respond.

Soldering is not that hard you can practice on one of those soldering practice kits or whatever it would be worth the effort

To tl;dr it, what I did was get a box and put all the shit in it that I don't use or isn't essential, then take it out of your room. Only the essentials remain. This ensures you get to instantly experience having a super streamlined and minimal room without all the bloat, just the essentials. You'll fall in love with it. Leave the box somewhere for a few months. See if you ever need to go back in to it to get shit out, this system helps you sort through everything in a much more productive way as opposed to sifting through things and getting hit with emotions. After a few months you should find that everything in the box is worthless to you in terms of utility. Realise that all that stuff is holding you back from your streamlined room experience, do you really want to go back to the bloat? Take photos, put them back in the box, put on fb marketplace or launch in the trash. Time to be ruthless.
