Early 20s sperg foid who recently joined the dating scene for the first time. I found a wonderful person who has treated me with nothing but respect and kindness. We have gone to dinners, had excursions, and we have even started watching a series at his apartment together.
The first time I went to his apartment, he tried to initiate sex. I stopped him and told him that I'm a virgin, and that I wouldn't do that with someone who hasn't even asked me out yet. When he didn't take the hint, I asked him plain and simple: am I your girlfriend? Are you my boyfriend?
He told me that it doesn't work that way, and that the typical thing is that two people just hang out, they like each other, they have sex, and things get serious from there or you break up.
Is this the norm? People don't formally ask each other to be your girlfriend/boyfriend? Am I wrong in feeling like this is weird? Is this common? Is this how it goes down in the dating world nowadays?
