What has caused 4chan posters to avoid any and all normal conversation?

Any post or reply that is on topic, constructive, and reasonable is ignored. Everyone on this website just spams random oneliners and quips in hopes of getting replies. No one is willing to engage in a discussion about the thread topic or even about what they themselves have posted. 4chan seems to have experienced a severe braindrain, where the only posters left are posting purely in bad faith for the sake of attention. Is it because they're just here to spam for stimulation? Do they just want to see (You)s like normies see likes and favorites? It's so bizarre to me that people will spend all day here but refuse to talk about what they're posting. What's the point of an image board if no one interacts with each other?

It is weird, I have had some meaningful conversations on here, but they're slimming as of late now that you mention it, /r9k/ used to work more like a chatroom, but now it works more like /b/ but you get muted for writing two word replies.

Fair enough, I'm not so much into the amputation as I am the state of being incapacitated by not having limbs, but I strictly don't like when they have no limbs, I think missing both arms is peak.

I agree, there's something odd about them that I can't comprehend. They feel unhealthy in a way. I'm pretty small, frail, and have very youthful features. I'm regularly placed at 19-20 despite being 29. I assume that I'm fairly inbred on one side or the other, I'm not sure which. I think my mother's side as her family were impoverished subsistence farmers for a few generations.

Brain drain is exactly what happened. There were a few obnoxious posters whose hobby was to seek out and destroy the small amount of discussion we had here. These obnoxious posters really thought they were being a positive contribution to the discussion but they really weren't. They were making things worse for everyone involved.
Eventually they got so bad that the effort of slogging through their interruptions was harder than just finding a new place to post away from these people.

i don't frequent this board very often but its because i have work and real life and depression to contend with. also due to personal and social isolation, other factors including feeling a disconnect and lack of community. Not fitting in with people my age but still getting along with them, lack of romantic prospects, etc.

Yeah generals are cancer because of the patterns of unoriginality they fall into but that doesn't happen because it's the same people meeting up in them over and over, it happens because those people aren't interested in deeper thought, which the OP was talking about.
But I miss having the discussion group here because the shitposts mixing into the discussion has the affect of seasoning it. But the cool thing about having the discussion off world is that anytime you read the logs, there's always good content unlike here where you could read a 400 post thread and it's all pointless banter and horniness. And it's cool when you can chip in and always get a thoughtful reply even if not immediately. But it's actually dangerous because it makes talking to normies feel obsolete and I find myself becoming even MORE anti social toward normies than I was before. I still try to have fun. But when you send a probe into their brain and get nothing back it can be a joykill.

It just feels like, as the internet has grown larger with more and more users, it has become impossible to have meaningful conversations on the "public" internet. By public here I just mean anything accessible to the general population, such as forums, 4chan, reddit, any social media website, etc. where anyone can talk to anyone with little barrier of entry. 1 on 1 conversations can still be meaningful online, but finding people seems harder than ever due to how the above has become so shit. All of my online friends at this point I have known for 10+ years.

I am a terminally online mental illness NEET on disability that was in complete isolation for over 5 years and sew no way out (and am a suicidal thought survivor), I'm still a NEET shut in and not a normie but my life improved a lot in the last 3 years; and share advice that worked for me and would fit their lifestyle (tho arguably some normie advice also, like going out to meet people (which I didn't do) etc.) and they say it's futile without even considering their lifes can get better even without becoming a normie. I know how it feels, but I'd take the advice I give 3 years ago myself if I thought it would help me find a way out.
