Yes they are, but I really do not give a fuck. I happen to have left the nest at 18, got two degrees a career and a family. Basically living the normalfag life. They had insanely high expectations for us but they also were shit at parenting and it was a hellhole growing up in that home. My siblings and my motivation to get good did not come from their expectations, it came from wanting to get the hell out if there.

They used to be ashamed of me during my NEET years but now that I've ended up an engineer they're proud. I remember how they used to hide from relatives and friends because they'd ask about what I'm doing and they just couldn't admit that I'm on my way to becoming a failure.
I only really fixed myself because I was afraid of homelessness once my inheritance would've run out. And I knew I don't want to work some sui fuel bottom-wage job. Now my goal has become working as few years as possible, because I was so happy as a NEET that it's hard to find joy in anything when I work 8h a day. My parents are helping with that by not charging me rent. As long as I don't buy a house and never have kids, my goal is achievable.

Yes, I think they had basically written me off after being a NEET for a few years but I ended up going to a very good university for my master's degree and now I'm in a well paying job in another country.
I got caught crossdressing when I was ~18 so they probably assume I'm gay. They'll probably be pretty relieved if I tell them that I have a girlfriend now, despite knowing full well they'd be disgusted if my sister was dating someone my age at 20.

If i was in your position with a useless bachelors and at a dead end I would join the military to go to officer training school. Preferably the navy or air force to be a pilot but with a bachelors you can do just about whatever you want. Just avoid self snitching about drugs and get the appropriate waivers if you have diagnoses of asthma or ADD or something
