I want a train set, but my parents said no because I am 20 and should be interested in girls instead. Should I just buy one and build a layout in secret in my bedroom?

If yes, then should I buy British, French, German, Austrian, Czech or Swiss trains? I am open to some American stuff too, but mostly passenger transit (NJT, Amtrak, MTA and SEPTA only).

No Brightline available. Plus I live right by the tracks where they run. Bachmann should really do one as the already have an Acela and an Avelia Liberty set. My local shop also has some custom models, but they are not allowed to sell them.

Good choice, anything in particular?

You are right, just enough carriages, enough power to pull them, plus have adequate power and track.

I don't know much about model trains but a quick Google search, I liked this one. Looks rather expensive unfortunately. Maybe I have basic taste, it isn't a very ornate design perhaps. But it made me feel comfy.

Do you have any Brightline pics you could share

It looks good, but do you mind telling me the name. If it is Marklin (or Trix, which is virtually the same thing), then it will be very expensive, but probably worth it.

Here you are. One Brightline coming up.

I found it... It is a Marklin, but Trix likely make a version of it. Marklin stuff is proprietary, but they make non-proprietary versions under the Trix name for those who want Marklin products do not want the system.

Also they are passenger carriages, but I think that I might have found a cheap locomotive from Fleischmann. It is used, but they have a good reputation for the German and Austrian made ones.

Any pictures?

Noice! I used to live next to tracks but sadly not anymore

Nice, glad you were able to find the name

It is WebP and I am not in the mood to convert it, so here: https://www.trainz.com/collections/model-trains/products/fleischmann-4343-ho-sbb-swiss-federal-re-4-4-electric-locomotive-11374-ex-box?queryId=88da7979ffde0428fce6265e487d85e2&objectId=44032906461306
