carrot on a stick motivation
does anyone else only get motivated by "carrots on a stick", e.g. tangible, short term reasons?
for example the concept of going to college to "have a future" isn't compelling at all, it's so vague and not guaranteed I would rather not bother on the first place and waste effort/time/money
whereas something like a feature on a personal project has me staying up all night for multiple days working on it, like an obsession
