Some people are more likely to be addicted to food than others, also depends on culture and upbringing.
there are barely any fat people in asian countries since their culture shames fat people, while america for example doesn't, and to an extent glorifies it.
I for example, was insecure about being chubby as a kid so I dieted it off by eating iceberg lettuce instead of chips, and not allowing myself to eat until certain times, then somewhere along the way I picked up a caffeine addiction that nuked my iron levels and made me not feel as hungry, making eating optional.
Later I started being autistic about eating purely "organic" so I ate even less, since my diet mostly consisted of low effort crap.
did that bite me in the ass during adulthood? it sure did, I probably wouldn't have been sub 6ft if I didn't do all that.
Remember that it's better to eat something than to not eat at all.
