Do you think ADHD is real?
I've been diagnosed for over a decade now, but even as a kid I was always skeptical. I denied it, I thought it was just a bullshit excuse to get kids who didn't fit the mold hooked on drugs, not to mention they diagnosed me with a laundry list of other things that definitely didn't apply. But nowadays I'm starting to rethink it. After years of chronic unemployment, periods of homelessness, struggles with substance abuse, and cycles of hyperfocus, I'm beginning to come around to the idea. Even if I don't fit the stereotypical presentation, there's clearly something wrong with me that can't be fixed. Then again, sometimes I think I'm just a lazy, undisciplined faggot who wants a convenient excuse to blame my many failures on.

As an autist I will say that autism is a clearly defined cluster of traits and characteristics whereas ADHD feels far more nebulous. We're both "neurodivergent" but even if ADHD is real it seems much less pervasive.

ADHD is real. The mechanism of action is hypoactivity of the prefrontal cortex and the RAS. It is caused by shit genetics or too much TV before 2 years old. This fucks up your dopamine and norepinephrine that is why they usually prescribe stimulants

It is but if youre depressed and cant get shit done its probably becayuse youre depressed rather than it being ADHD

if you are isolated and lonely theres no way you can self start and workj on projects over years to become successful.

I have both OCD and ADHD and I can't get shit done even if I'm having a great day. It's hard to differentiate the symptoms a lot of the time especially considering OCD itself is a lot more than just obsessions and compulsions. It's a misnomer just like ADHD.

As someone who just got diagnosed over a year ago after years upon years of misdiagnoses and medications that made shit worse, I would say yes since being prescribed Adderall turned my life around and now I'm not a fucking failure like I was.

I do believe it's real, now because I have it, but because every person I met who claimed to have it was largely more interesting than other people

I got diagnosed early on but I always felt like I was "above" relying on speed. At this point I'm willing to try anything, but I feel like I'll just abuse the drugs. What was your experience like?

I wonder why that is. What about simple executive dysfunction makes someone inherently more interesting? Maybe it's all the time we spend in our own heads. I have no idea.

i have been diagnosed with it. people do not treat it as if its an actual issue and something rather benign, which is the most frustrating thing about it.

yes but it's just a disorder for dysgenic retards, like dyslexia and stuff

I have both add and dyslexia all of these are add ons of how retarded you are

Why is dyslexia "neurodivergent" when it's basically "letters mixed up" disorder and nothing else?
