It is worse than archaic. In a lot of ways, we have thrown away shit that has worked in an attempt to find something better with mixed results. Basically all problems in education come from parents ruining everything. Parents are probably the single stupidest group of people in the country who will constantly attempt to destroy anything functional, because it might hurt their kids feelings.

The entirety of highschool and maybe even some of middle school is entirely useless.
Smart kids could be doing college level shit in highschool while the rest do tradework or wagie shit.

The entire system is useless. All that dumb people actually need is literacy and fifth-grade math to live their lives.
Anyone with a functioning brain should immediately move up to real world applications and training for their careers.
We waste 6-7 years of a child's life pretending that writing book reports on Call of the Wild or memorizing dates around the Ottoman empire means anything.
All of it is just preparation for the busywork they'll be wasting their life with if they get basic office job, which are rapidly disappearing.
We're training our young people to be useless, ineffective, and proud of memorizing trivia with no practical applications.
