i'm tired. been fixing my sleep schedule and it's been quite the wild ride. i go to bed at 9-10:30 pm and gake up at 6, usually. it's objectively good, but it feels like i'm wasting a bunch of time.

visiting my friend. she lives next to an amazing burger place. i'm just hoping i won't have the urge to vomit it all. praying i can wait until i get home for that.

>i'm not sure why they felt the need for a single episode training arc.
sometimes it feels like I'm missing part of the training arc. Like Ken Takakura using sets of squats to fight the evil eye feels like a we should've seen him training like this a lot more day to day.
Other than that I think they made a good training episode. Like the tempo metaphor made sense but the "I don't listen to music, wait" thing was just funny.
> what's your plan?
It was to do homework, but I ended up watching some old YouTube videos on the Dire wolves. I think I'm more on the "just call them dire wolves" side of the argument, but I feel like that's just me wanting to believe sometimes. I will state they are the closest reconstruction of dire wolves possible, which is uncontroversial.

i agree. i guess they hint at that he does and you're supposed to imagine that he does. doesn't really work that well, though.

>I think they made a good training episode.
the whole setup felt a bit forced and random to me, but i don't have a clue about japanese urban legends and supernatural phenomena, so i don't know if i'm just missing something there. i'm also not the biggest fan of classical music and that rendition of "ode an die freude" ("ode to joy") wasn't my favorite, either. overall it was more of a miss for me. not much to grab and hold my attention. first not that fun episode for me. bummer.

>"I don't listen to music, wait" thing was just funny.
i'll give you that. ^^

>some old YouTube videos on the Dire wolves.

>I will state they are the closest reconstruction of dire wolves possible, which is uncontroversial.
is it something like one of those breeding projects that tries to visually recreate an extinct species? i only know of people trying to breed something like an aurochs. no clue why people feel the need to do that, but they do.

I'm just gonna get this in before calling it a night.
> is it something like one of those breeding projects that tries to visually recreate an extinct species?
Not exactly. They found two stable dna samples of dire wolves and isolated what genes make a dire wolf different from other Canidae species. Based off this research they found that grey and red wolves had several points of interbreeding throughout their lineage. They chose the grey wolf as a base due to more available research. Then they invented a multi editing crisper technology to edit multiple genes in one poke.
From here they could insert enough genes to change grey wolf dna into dire wolf dna. However some genes, like the white coat, were heavily associated with albinism and deafness in wolves, so they choose to just make the coat white by altering safer genes rather than what was fossilized.
Then they cloned the newly created wolf. Put the egg in a surrogate dog. And produced either a de extinct dire wolf or a super big white wolf depending on who you ask. Either way, there are now three genetically engineered extra large wolves in the world.
Along with 4 genetically engineered and diverse red wolves to save the current dying population of red wolves.
