They'll argue it's because it makes certain attitudes normalized but it's really because women know appeals to safety win over basically all women and a substantial portion of men.
It's not so different from a child finding some way to emotionally exploit their parents. I mean, this really underpins a whole lot of women's arguments. So many of them boil down to "muh safety" as we live in one of the safest times in history. It's not that women aren't safe, it's that they don't feel safe and having grown up around paranoid religous people I'm confident a huge portion of that shit is learned. With religious extremists it's easy for people to see but harder for people to see it with women. They start them off young through all the media, their mothers, fathers constantly warning them to stay alert. And just like the religious extremist they all develop a sort of paranoid anxiety about danger despite it being minimal compared to their perception.
