I have been reading The Trial by Kafka to my wife (which is not very Kafkaesque!). She likes hearing me read. I am thinking of what book to read next.

Because we're biased toward what can be easily interpreted with our senses. Reading text without the aid of pictures or sound or anything else takes more work on our part.

I was thinking of reading The Road by myself. Something depressing.

Sometimes it helps to read something new if you've been stuck on a topic for too long. I'm reading a book on the jhanas, a meditative state characterized by intense concentration. Probably more of advanced topic since I don't know anything about Buddhism really, but it's not like concentration is something exclusive to Buddhists.
