Im not a weeb but there is a reason idol culture or jdramas are as prevalent as the korean version. Also japs have beauty standards at odds with ours, like the snaggle teeth. There is no japanese version of korean skincare.

Bts is the perfect example. But even when you ignore them, girlgroups like blackpink have more reach than momusu at their height. Modern korean culture is easily exported because it appeals to the lowest common denominator, japanese culture aside from sushi matcha and anime isn't easily exported. Doesnt help that the korean government literally pumps billions into their entertainment industry as well.
