Projet: STOP BEING RETARDED (SBR)
I was thinking, what if we decide to band together and beat our evil overlords by unretarding ourselves, giving ourselves a tiny bit of purpose and something to look forward to?

This is why I propose Project: SBR (not to be confused with Steel Ball Run) -- the concept is shrimple:
We read one book a month and come back to talk about it at set date and maybe with some heckin memes and the like. Or maybe a few chapters a week to start off with.

>B-But I can't snee- read! I just can't concentrate and words hurt my brainerino!
Fret not, the first few books would be pretty short and with audiobooks. Not wanting to miss the monthly thread would be a big motivational factor too. Think of it like a deadline in school; you HAVE to do it (after all you had an ENTIRE month!).

>I don't trust your tastes! I bet your books suck!
That's why we'll have votes!

>Okay but what's the end game?
The end game is for you to be able to read long books, to be more knowledgeable and a better rhetorician. That way, you get yourself a huge boost in confidence, and appear generally much more interesting to others. You'll also be more motivated to do things that take time in general, and you'll be much more likely to disconnect from the internet. And maybe you'll even write your very own story! Imagine writing the story of a hecking mango that gets adapted into anime like these Chinese, Korean and French ones? And you'll be better at it because you actually read books!

Anyway, thoughts on this idea? Should I just kill myself instead?

Because textbooks seem even more boring to most people. While story books aren't only about learning, you can just enjoy them as you would any other kind of hobby, and you'd still come out less retarded. Textbooks are solely for the people who want to knowledgemaxx. Also story books are, I would assume, generally better written which would greatly help in being a better orator (useful for robots)

nta but it helps with vocabulary, grammar and concentration. I would assume it's easier to get into non-fiction if you actually KNOW how to read (most people are actually illiterate). You also don't have to worry about information retention. Also a lot of fiction has some sort of underlying message that gives much needed food for thoughts for people who don't think much

Most people aren't going to stick around for more than a thread or two, but if you keep posting you'll get one or two anons who will blogpost with you regularly. I guess it's worth a try, though are you sure books work that way? Also, the last thing you want is a confident retard, as I said.
>Which is definitely better than having them feel like crap 24/7
If you feel like crap 24/7, books will not fix that; maybe therapy or anti-depressents will. I mean, you might improve their life quality a *little* bit, but at what cost? A band of vocabulary-wielding retards will be obnoxious to deal with, as I said.
>At least they'd have something to brag about, even if it makes them a bit more annoying
If this project will work out well, you're going to unleash hell upon this board. People who think they're better than you cause they read books are the worst, especially if they're obviously retarded; As I said.
Again, very ambitious, if naive, project.
But idk, maybe I'm just a pessimist and it'll work out fine. I read books and they're good to pass the time with, and improved my vocabulary, attention span, conceptualization and are good for escapism (but didn't give me more overall confidence or fixed my suffering or retardation). Well they either read books and feel like they're being mildly productive with their time or just
>wake up
>browse 4chan
>maybe play a bit of vidyas
>go to sleep
So it can only be positive for their personal mental development. And if it isn't, it'll at least help them broaden their horizons.

>If you feel like crap 24/7, books will not fix that; maybe therapy or anti-depressents will. I mean, you might improve their life quality a *little* bit, but at what cost? A band of vocabulary-wielding retards will be obnoxious to deal with, as I said.

Sure, that's a possibility, but this board already sucks ass. It's already just ragebait general. I don't think It'll make that much of an impact. I still remember jannies deleting Christmas threads. The board is capital A Ass

>Again, very ambitious, if naive, project.
Not really that ambitious. I'm just throwing shit at a wall. I fully expect it to be a giant failure. It's just that this board is so bad that somebody needs to try and make it feel a bit more like a community. One robot at a time, maybe we can make a change in the long run. IF people try...

>I read books and they're good to pass the time with, and improved my vocabulary, attention span, conceptualization and are good for escapism
Well that'd be a positive change to happen for robots.
I don't think books should be gatekept because some retardos might get too cocky. The people who rule clearly want us to read as little as possible, and spend more and more time with short term content, so going against the grain is the way to go, I think.

>Either way this is just a stupid idea that maybe will go nowhere

Well I chose the title because I thought that improving their vocabulary and attention span (among other things) would bring them closer to humanity. I didn't think they'd turn into geniuses but it's a nice first step. If they stuck with it and started reading other books on the side because they discovered that they might enjoy reading then there's a chance they'd actually end up very knowledgeable on a lot of things (especially by branching from fiction, to reading a lot of non-fiction).

Also the title is much better than "r9k book club". It feels more important and gives them a reason to actually try reading a book instead of just being like
>r9k book club? Well I don't read books, so let's NOT check the thread

"One robot at a time, maybe we can make a change in the long run" is phrased in a very hopeful way in my eyes. But maybe it was just an attempt at engaging writing.

>"One robot at a time, maybe we can make a change in the long run" is phrased in a very hopeful way in my eyes. But maybe it was just an attempt at engaging writing.
Yes, "maybe" was there. It is a possibility. I am just one of these robots. If others want to try something they are free to do so. Being generally pessimistic doesn't mean one should not try. I work towards my goal with the intent of it working out but with the expectation that it's going to fail. And if it fails I try again until I end up pleasantly surprised by the result. I don't know if I'll try again in this case.

>I get it. But you have hope that it'll work, otherwise you wouldn't have come up with a plan.
I hope that it works, but I expect it not to.
For example: You're asking a girl out for idk, the fireworks. You say let's go there and let's leave long before so we don't miss it. You go there in hopes you'll see the fireworks, but with the expectation that you're gonna miss them so you don't stress out over it and don't cry about the result.

>You must care a little bit, or else you wouldn't have posted this thread to begin with.
I do care in the sense that it would be nice if things worked out. I don't care in the sense that it would not affect my mood whatsoever if it didn't.

Okay Chuds! I'm BACK!
I feel like shit, no sleep allowed for me I guess.

Anyways, here are the books I've got so far

>How to Read a Book - Mortimer J. Adler
>Valis - Philip K. DICK
>Theft of Fire - Devon Eriksen
>Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy - Douglas Adams
>My First Book - Honor Levy (probably gonna get rid of this to not filter out everyone lol)
>Stoner - John Williams
>The Expanse Vol I - Daniel Abraham & Ty Frank
>White Nights - Fyodor Dostoevsky
>Defense of Purity - Dietrich von Hildebranch
>Life for Sale - Yukio Mishima
>Snow Country - Yasunari Kawabata
>Steppenwolf - Hermann Hesse

Tell me if I forgot something (I'll double-check too), and feel free to recommend other stuff if you want. Please try to recommend short books preferably with audiobooks avalaible in English so it's easier for robots

>>82295858
The way to retain knowledge is through repetition (using the knowledge is one way). I argue with a retard in my head to remember something. And the more you see the same words appear the more likely you are to remember them. And all that jazz...
So it's normal to forget everything quickly after first learning about the thing in question

>>82295902
>Idea is great, but you should at least consider
Noted. I'll chew over the matter carefully.

>The cause is just and if you manage to pull at least a few turbo-tards into being just normal-tards I will give you a long and passionate kiss to the orifice of your choice
I am not homosexual so I would only accept if you wear a wig so it's straight

Yes that's the only idea I had. Anything more than that I feel like could feel too much like work for robots and most of them would give up

Alright, I'll also add 1984 to the list because even though I said it was too long it seems to get close to some books on the list in length. I'll have to put the length of the audiobooks so robots know what they're getting into when they're picking a book on the poll

Yeah, probably should read something as well. Probably should not go too obscure for the sake of the cause, so what about Dune? Familisar fmoid bought it a few years back

No problem as I am also straight. Will shave my legs and chest so there is absolutely no homo - just passionate kissing with loud masticating noises.

What's up with a guy using a female elf? as an avatar, fren? Also, maybe don't use the c-word as some guys use that in their filter. Do you have a suggestion what we can call our tard-bros that want to improve themselves (in place if the c-word)? Brotherhood of tardation? Lel. Jesus the titles for members, we're not there yet buddy! We need to see if this thing is a failure first and foremost. But I'll keep these on the side

Also I like simply naming it SBR. I think it's funny that it's the same acronym as Steel Ball Run. It's like
>30 days before the next SBR!!!
And everybody just thinks I'm talking about the race in JoJo when it's just a book club with a name that sounds like a big event

So yeah I thing that SBR and Bots (acronym for its members) need to say because they're both very simple, evocative and original. As for the rest we'll see later

Here's a sample of "Theft of Fire" by Devon Eriksen:
https://read.bookfunnel.com/read/h6gjdipcpw

It's a digestable hard SciFi novel with a small but interesting cast of characters and a fun read overall. It has an overall positive outlook on the future, which I think most robots will enjoy.

I tried to get into the "three body problem" before but the requirement of knowing about Chinese politics/history and a huge cast of characters with names that sound very similar was not a great fit for this retard. I may watch the show first and give it another go when I got the jist of the story but probably not.

Because there's so much shit to do that it's better to start anew and get everyone's eyes on it. Just showing the synposis of the books will take me 4 or 5 posts (unless I find a way to integrate them into the poll). And then I have to make the presentation of the thread in general, with the meme arrows and the answers, like most generals you know. I'll aslo link websites for people who want to pirate audiobooks.
A poll at the bottom of a 100 replies thread seems like a bad idea. It's messy and people will get confused.
