Really, Christianity was suffering from success. The classical peoples all knew women were chaotic, more lustful than men, etc., but Christianity came along and was so effective at controlling women's worse impulses over time that people began unironically thinking that women are actually well behaved. What Christianity are you talking about? I've read the old and new testaments and I don't seem to remember it having anything to say about which women you are supposed to marry. Forgiveness is also not something *you* are required to do for anyone. Forgiveness is supposed to be between you and El (the patriarch of the Hebrew pantheon). I do not believe you are not required to forgive anyone's previous sexual history and would be interested in you citing the passage that would suggest that, because if that one exists I have forgotten it.

If he didn't approve of Mary Magdalene, why did he spend so much time with her? Go read the dead Sea scrolls and come back and type that out again.
