My grandpa is 58 and my dad is 38. He got the PS1 when my dad was 8, and my dad had me at 20, so I'm 18 now. My grandpa said he got the PS1 when it was released so he was 28 then.

Resident Evil 2, Metal Gear Solid, Silent Hill, Final Fantasy Tactics, and Xenogears are all obvious choices that are not only good but also the PS1 still remains the best/only way to play them (I think RE2 was ported to PC by GoG though, so replace it with uhhh Vagrant Story?)

PLAY WITH A GUIDE!!!!
Arc 1 starts off slow but Arc 2 is much better
>Legend of Mana
Again use a guide, because you can easily miss stuff
>Valkyrie Profile
>FFT
But it's being released subbed via remake.
>Lunar 1+2
>Breath of Fire 3+4
>Thousand arms
but honestly I would look for a subbed version via emulator
>FF9
Seven's remake/rebirth completely makes the original obsolete
>Star Ocean
>Chrono Trigger and then Chrono Cross
>DQ7
but the DS version is better
>Thousand Arms
>Brave Fencer Musashi
>Megaman Legends 1+2+ Trone Bon
Iknow I am forgetting some though

My folks own two houses. 30 miles north of the city, that's an easy commute. Then again they bought them back in 97' when the market was much cheaper.

ADHD zoomer or protozoomer(92-95) detected, those games look and play like shit now. Even back then, the N64 platformers were far superior.

Games had to last back then, we don't have the internet at our fingertips like we do now. I'll tell you this Jrpgs are better than any novel I've read.

Ok gramps, JRPGs are indescribably boring 100 hour long turn based slogfests, especially on PS1. Only with PS2 did those types of games start being fun. Meanwhile 3D platformers are fun no matter what era they're from. Go eat your oatmeal.

>Ok gramps, JRPGs are indescribably boring 100 hour long turn based slogfests,
Legend of Mana isn't turnbased, and neither is brave fencer Musashi. It's more fun than any platformer I've played, I outgrew them at a certain point.
'
>y boring 100 hour long turn based slogfests,
I felt ripped off when I finished a game in an afternoon, we didn't have internet or torrents or streaming like we do now in 99'. They are far more challenging than any platformer I have ever played.

>Meanwhile 3D platformers are fun no matter what era they're from.
They got dull after awhile. Especially during the collectathon era.

>. Go eat your oatmeal.
I drink vegi smoothies , oatmeal is kinda sucky.

Also Spyro was remade because the original looks like shit now. Sprites last for generations

You named one of maybe 5 good PS1 RPGs. PS2 probably has quintuple that number.
>I felt ripped off when I finished a game in an afternoon
This isn't the 90s where you rented a game for 10 dollars and only had that game to play for a weekend, old man. It's a superior time to your childhood. Sorry.
>They got dull after awhile
I have 100% completed Spyro 3 more than once, which is more than I can say for any PS1 RPG.
>Also Spyro was remade because the original looks like shit now
Umm, you realized you named Star Ocean 2 and that game recently got a remake, right?
Anonymous No.82312238 [Report]
>>82312215
The DS version has a bunch of mediocre added content that doesn't really fit but it is otherwise a good way to play the game.

>Really? Chrono Trigger on the ds is better? Why exactly?
Has some extra content and explains what happened to a certain character. Also it doesn't have load times.

>This isn't the 90s where you rented a game for 10 dollars and only had that game to play for a weekend,
It was four dollars zoom, zoom. That's what platfomers were for, but once we got to the end of gen 5 of games Blockbusters and video stores in general started to disappear.

>Umm, you realized you named Star Ocean 2 and that game recently got a remake, right?
I didn't thanks for telling me. Original still looks better than spyro now.

>Should I play it
Unless you want to go out and buy an old glass TV that runs at 480p you should honestly hang onto it as an investment or memento. Maybe clean it up and put it in a sealed box.
Emulating the games with resolution upscaling and various other techniques is a much, much better experience.
