We currently spend 14 billion a year on boat people, but that's just the upfront cost (hotels, clothes, phones, food, laundry, transport, toiletries) there are plenty 'downstream' that aren't counted e.g. benefits that they can access, translators, healthcare etc. I reckon doubling the official figure is a good estimate for the actual, total cost of them so 28 billion a year, and remember it's not like they're all going away any time soon, and more arrive every single day. The price is only going to rise.
