It's not so much the actual sex itself, it's everything that goes along with it.
Sex is, and should be, seen as the most intimate act you can do with a partner.
By wanting sex, MOST robots thus imply they want the gf, the cuddling, the intimacy, and everything else that culminates in the act of sex.
It's like how someone may say "I want to celebrate Christmas", and sure nothing's stopping them from buying a tree and seasonal food, but they have no one to give gifts to, no one to drink eggnog with, no family to pester them "when am I getting grandchildren" because their parents died and they're alone, etc.

Sex is like money. Having it won't make you happy but NOT having it will definitely make you unhappy. Ever been really, really thirsty before? It has a way of grabbing every thought in your mind and redirecting it towards "GET WATER". Sex is not really any different in that regard. It is in your gene's best interest to make you feel miserable for not having sex so you'll go out and do it, and really I think it's the only way men are able to put up with the bullshit women pull.
