I could have been a great coder and expert in IT if only my parents had listened to me as a child, now I am so far behind I want to kill myseld. As a kid I was banned from using any actual computers and begged my parents to let me learn coding, but they ignored my plees and pushed me to get into art my entire early life. Now I am 18 in compsci school and I lement that I didnt get the chance to learn this earlier, who fucking cares if I can draw why the fuck would my parents try to funnel me into going into art school

Most parents are the exact opposite and force science instead of art. It should always be a healthy combo of both. Sorry that happened to you anon.

I feel this a lot. The world is a bad place. But you can still be great if you put in effort. Once you learn the fundamentals, the time disparity becomes little and you can become an expert with practice and dedication

thanks for the encouraging words anons, I know I can make it, im just really frustrated at what I could have been, my parents even made fun of me growing up for being a "computer illiterate zoomer" when they caused that

You're 18 now, there is no excuse to spend your free time learning IT/cybersec.
Also, if I were you, I would get out of this board and move on to /g/, the technology board. Read their sticky and learn stuff that is, thank goodness, free to download and learn, like learning how to use the command line or so. Staying here is detrimental to your development, OP. This board is the equivalent of the special ed classroom in high school.
