They are. What you probably mean to say is that squares aren't the same thing as rectangles. They're different concepts, like a cup and mug. Similarly, woman, and trans woman are different phrases and still mean different things.

Its either a subset of women and so a modifying term to distinguish from broader women, or a distinct category. If its a subset then you would have to explain how "male by sex but feels like a female" is part of women, and if its just an asserted definition then no one but those who hold that definition are bound to that rationale and so the entire disagreement is semantics from your asserted definition
