It seems a bit ironic that Catholics love to spout "muh source material" yet many in their doctrine has zero biblical support in the original material (Hebrew in OT, Greek in NT.) Forexample, tell me where in the bible it mentions limbo in the source material. It was never there. Ever. Catholicism, since forever, taught this. Thankfully actual christians in the Catholic church kept pointing this out and "the church" finally changed their position.

This is the basis of actual christianity. It's about reading it ourselves and having God reveal it to us. Not from the pope, not from bishops, not from preachers on the pulpit. It is not understood from Intercession from the saints. They can help, but it is our relationship with God that helps us understand the word. I have a lot of views that differ from mainstream thought because I've read the bible.

The church administration seems to be deeply cucked, no matter the mainstream denomination.
It seems many Christians seem to bypass that and believe in the Holy Trinity.
Possibly one of the reasons why hardly anyone attends church services.

the brain is hardwired for belief, otherwise there's no way billions of people who be retarded enough to fall for this skydaddy shit. i am sure the smartest know it's not very likely. plus people put a lot of stock in history, they assume since so many have been believers before there must be something to it.
i really don't know these are my best guesses. i'm considered becoming a christian for the community, but it's premised on lies and i can't bring myself to swallow all this bullshit and "submit" to a make-believe person.

Also consider public schooling (in the US) didn't really exist until about 1920 and wasn't widespread until the 1950s. Prior to that you learned to read from the Bible. It was the only book you could get cheap. Half the country was fucking farmers and homesteaders during the 1800s, they didn't know jack shit. Newspapers were published a month before you got them, assuming you had even access to a town that sold them.

We're like 5 generations or less away from semi-literate morons that could barely do addition. They relied on a magic book to give them hope as their children died from cholera, measles, whooping cough, and 17 other deadly diseases from a century ago. Life fucking sucked any time 100+ years ago. It was a fucking nightmare don't let these "return to tradition" fuckwits tell you different. When the Amish go on "Rumspringa" (teenage vacation from their village) half of them don't come back.

Of course you need religion when your world is fucked. Look at Africa. Like 97% rate of religious worship and it's worse than the US in the 19th century.
