Those things hadn't even been invented back when I was in school, in those long ago days when Gen-X was teenagers. We had jocks, nerds, preppies, metalheads, and what was the rarest clique at the time, punk rockers. (If you were into music that was considered Goth or New Wave you were lumped in with the punks) Strangely enough, back then punks and metalheads were arch-enemies even though we were often wearing the same black leather jackets.

Naturally I was a nerd when I started high school, but in an effort to escape the curse of nerddom I gradually mutated into a punker and was considered to be the weirdest kid in school by the time it was all over.

Punk. I skateboarded and had a long hair, then a 6 inch mohawk

I graduated high school recently, but I was the one who would play smash bros whenever I had no work to do :3
No friends, but every once in a while someone would come up and challenge me and I would wreck them because I was really good

I was in highschool at the tail end of both subcultures, although the "gangsta" shit had largely faded out (among white kids at least).
By that time, "emo" had become "scene" and they were all very obvious gayfags and furfags. The music was all 5 years old and we just tried to ignore them.
Me, I was simply based:

>hated all current games but I firmly backed the Wii U when it launched in 12th grade

Basically, I just had 4chan tastes but didn't hide them. At the time I was a big /v/, /mu/, /r9k/, /tv/ poster so I had taken all the requisite redpills and followed the cool opinions I found.
Nobody liked me though.
