Well you can't exactly talk to someone who's been murdered to get their perspective nor can you study how their life turned out after dealing with that kind of incident.
It's an apples and oranges comparison. If you really wanted to compare the two you'd probably be better off looking at cases of domestic violence vs sexual assault to see which produces worse long term outcomes.

USA citizens typically grow up in a post-puritan culture that is averse to sex and accepts violence. Attributing the severity to a culture difference is questionable at best, especially since it's also illegal to gore people or turn them into thin and thick red paste.
