"best" in what regard? is this why the populations around the world are getting far less intelligent? the standards for selecting a mate are horrid, and the avenues in which they are selected (e.g. hook-up apps, dating apps, social media) are even worse. Women hold most the power of sexual selection, as the onus of approaching is still thrust on men. Those women get an unwarranted sense of value based on being pursued by tons of potential suitors due to that social pressure on men, which results in them getting distorted perceptions of themselves. They ignore average men in their day to day life, while only pursuing the most vocal, self-exaggerating, and "attractive" men in their youth. They treat it like a buffet. Those day to day men who make society run are increasingly ignored, and thus only the ones that market themselves the best find a mate. Those that don't participate or have time to just fall into the cracks of society, ignored. Women don't know what they want, and their perceptions are skewed by the mechanisms in which they choose now.

It's similar to the job market in which qualified candidates throw their job applications into black holes, never hearing responses back, from job postings that demand ridiculous credentials for certain positions. The honest ones self-filter out. Other ones get demoralized by the lack of feedback, ghosting, and rejections. The qualified ones stop applying, and the only ones that do apply are H1Bs or people grossly exaggerating their qualifications. The end result is often companies complaining they cannot find appropriate candidates or rewarding those that exaggerated their resumes just to play the game to get a foot in the door. It then inflates the credentials for the next candidate in a never ending cycle.
