As to your question OP, I suppose it depends on context. Anyone higher than me on the generational tree is an outright no.
Without sounding rude, they'll be dead soon enough anyway, and the one who won't probably wouldn't be happy with my sacrifice in the first place.

I have no one younger than me on generational tree*. I could perhaps die for my brother as I honestly don't have much to live for as is and he's a chill dude.

* (depressing) A girl I was sleeping with had an abortion. I was young and dumb at the time, though immediately regretted it. I have no doubt I'll be going to hell or whatever because of this so honestly I just kind of stopped caring / putting forth effort.
