My mom is also retarded but in a different way. She has 0 work experience in the real world as she was basically sheltered her whole life until she got an arranged marriage to my dad. She can't offer any advice but she has long monologues with worthless platitudes. Imagine "just be yourself! Pull yourself up by your bootstraps!" But stretched to 10 minutes of her talking. My mother is not dumb, per se, but just very naive in certain areas. She raised us to be fundamentalist Christians, and is now surprised that one of my siblings is a religious conspiratorial fanatic. It's frustrating asf because she encouraged us to ignore aspects of the faith that aren't rational. I'm tired of it all
