is the whole 'stranded on an island' and 'zombie apocalypse' actually a fantasy of self-dependence?

Depends on how you approach it.
It would suck in many ways, but on the same time you would be left alone by the government.
No bolice pulling up because you posted mean things about the mudslimes trying to kill you. Or the zombies trying to kill you. No loicense people peeking through your windows to see if you got a telly.
Sure there will be roaming gangs of things trying to kill you, but they won't be roaming gangs of things trying to kill you AND rape your daughters and sisters and mothers.
You won't be arrested for self defense fighting off things that attack you.
You won't be charged with possessing a weapon in public. You won't be fined for saying "the Z word". You won't be arrested for praying on the street (yes, this happens). "Save me from them God!" won't get you thrown in jail (after being stabbed).
Trapped on an island with the breakdown of social order, you won't have the government siphoning your resources (bank account) to ship in more zombies to celebrate diversity.

It's a return to simpler times, when you were allowed to kill those trying to kill you.

Under the current neo-lib system, it feels like we're all complicit tbf
>Buy a 6pc buffalo wing set; 3 fucking chickens died for this
>Buy a diamond ring for the future wife; a kid in the Congo died to mine it out
>Use AI for homework; the rivers fucking run dry
The only winning move is to not play, or play like you're not playing at all

Do you mean that we're exploiting men as in:
1. We're taking advantage of men
or
2. We're men who exploit, thus we are "exploiters" or "exploiting-men"

?

>1. We're taking advantage of men
i find the etymology interesting

exploitation(n.)
1803, "productive working" of something, a positive word among those who used it first, though regarded as a Gallicism, from French exploitation, noun of action from exploiter (see exploit (v.)). Bad sense developed 1830s-50s, in part from influence of French socialist writings (especially Saint Simon), also perhaps influenced by use of the word in U.S. anti-slavery writing; and exploitation was hurled in insult at activities it once had crowned as praise.

" It follows from this science [conceived by Saint Simon] that the tendency of the human race is from a state of antagonism to that of an universal peaceful association - from the dominating influence of the military spirit to that of the industriel one; from what they call l'exploitation de l'homme par l'homme to the exploitation of the globe by industry. " [Quarterly Review, April & July 1831]
