Archival studies major, geography minor
Don't laugh, I liked history but I wanted a job that wasn't teaching/research/writing.
Anyway I went to welding school a couple years after graduating.

I like history more than what I actually studied too but knew that my only route from that would have been teaching so I veered away

I went to culinary school, had a quarter life crisis 5 years after I graduated, now I'm in school again
Oddly enough, the field I'm going for, medical, is in the same seat as culinary in that there's ALWAYS going to be demand

I'm going for long-term, anons
I'm basically set for the next 30-40 years with my set of skills

I just got my GED at 32 and now I'm going for a degree in civil engineer. I'm so fucking bad at math, it'll probably take me a decade to finish it.

It's a versatile degree, very open ended. With just the degree you can land a lot of generic white collar office jobs because they'll think you're smart (what I'm doing right now). But if you touch up on your technical skills you can move into tech, data or business analytics, which is my future plan when I save up more money from my current ez job while living at home + the job market looks more promising for a switch. I know others that studied for the actuarial exams and became actuaries with a bachelor in math but I personally hate that shit.

I tried going to college but I gave up after realizing I would still struggle to find work even with a degree. I'm ok with working a shitty retail job now and taking a class later in life when I'm in a better mental and financial state. Too many people try to start college right out of high school when in reality it should be more like 5-10 years.

Yes
I changed my major 4 times and then settled on General Studies just to finish it up and graduate a year late

I hate my life

Majoring in psychology because I don't understand people and it's a versatile degree. Might be an art therapist or manage my courses to cater to pre-law.
Anonymous No.82437962 [Report]
Honestly, I tried college it just wasn't right for me.
Realized that even with a degree finding a good job would still be a struggle. For now I'm fine with working a regular retail job and saving up. I'll probably go back to school later in life when I'm in a better mental and financial space. I think more people should wait a few years after high school before going to college.
Anonymous No.82437981 [Report]
College? Yeah i gave it a shot but bailed. Just figured out even a degree can't negate the pain of job searching. Currently just working a chill retail job and I'll go back to school later when I'm in a better place financially and mentally.
Honestly, more people should wait a few years after high school instead of rushing into it.
