The major cities have no geographic limit to growth. They can stretch out the DFW metroplex, ugly and stupid as it is, from Abilene to Tyler and people it with as many Californians and jeets as you can imagine, if they want to. Imagine 17 highways intersecting and they're all stacked on top of each other reaching up into the blinding heavens, 45 minute drive to the grocery store. NY pavement, LA traffic. Same thing with Austin and San Antonio. Their outlying burbs will just devour more space. Houston is massive, but will be uninsurable eventually. And then those transplants will likely just move to DFW or Austin or San Antonio. Fuck everything up again like after Katrina. Also all the construction for growth requires growth, more apartments for the roofers and their kids, and more schools and more businesses and more fast food joints etc.
