Yeah i kind of just think like you said with the hair and shoes even, it kind of just has to fit a vibe you're coming off as. You want to look presentable yet unique. Haircut is one of the few exceptions to this as a male, every dude looks relatively the same from the shoulders down other than skin -tone and stature (which is easy to fake or hide) so a good haircut puts you far above the rest.

Im not sure what you mean by looksmaxxing but I can say from experience having a strong facial features makes you attractive. Beards are also seen as rugged and masculine, but they are objectively annoying. I had a beard for a few years and was treated differently than when I didnt, but I really do not need a beard and can pull off being clean shaven since I dont have weak facial features.
