Why is it that white collar jobs pay more than blue collar jobs but have less pressure than blue collar jobs? Like I worked in both. I've had shitty warehouse jobs where you had to punch in BEFORE your start time. Your breaks/lunchtime were timed to the dot. You could not leave early under any circumstance. If you worked faster than everyone else and were just standing around catching a breather your supervisors would just give you bullshit to do just to do something. But with white collar desk jobs I can start late. Leave early. Nobody tracks my lunch/break times. Plus I get paid way more and the work is so much physically easier. Why is it like this?

It's a class thing. Can you imagine a son or a daughter of a rich parents being berated for being tardy? They would not take such treatment. Professionals take all the liberties to be comfortable at work.

In white collar, your coworkers will try to destroy your life (legally, financially, etc.) while still keeping you biologically alive to clean up the fallout. Supply and demand. There are low-paying white collar jobs, like in customer service, and high-paying blue collar jobs, like in skilled trades. But it's harder to find workers for low-paying white collar jobs than for low-paid blue collar jobs.

To work in any white collar job, even at the lowest level, you must be: English literate, able to deal with customers, talk on the phone, computer proficient, and able to understand how your team interacts with the rest of the organisation. These are the minimum requirements for virtually any office job. This cuts off the majority of dopes, aggros, and immigrants.

Because you worked shitty warehouse jobs. I'm an industrial electrician, I make more than the vast majority of white collar workers ever will, and I do maybe... three hours of actual work per week, most of my work week is spent in my shop shitposting on 4chan or playing video games. If nothing breaks, I have no actual work to do and am simply required to be physically at the facility so that on the rare occasion something does break and can't be fixed through a computer, there won't be extra downtime delay from travelling.

So, I'd say it was a skill issue on your part.

As someone who has worked in both white and blue collar I can safely say that the biggest difference is white collar work is more bloated inefficient and topheavy. There's more pressure in white collar work because it so fucking leaky and inefficient you need to do more work to properly prioritize and identify work and so on, there's also way more pressure to 'keep busy' and waste your time with meaningless busywork in white collar.

In white collar world it sometimes took a whole week just for me to get a plan together. Just the other day in blue collar world I got a plan together with two different companies in 10 minutes. I was in a good mood all day just thinking about how nice it is to not deal with office politics bullshit and the ease and joys of efficiency.
