No one in the U.S. actually believes in the fundamental values of American freedom anymore. The left stopped caring a decade or two ago and now the right is drifting away from it as well. The second, first, fifth amendment mean basically nothing to people now. It's sad to see the people who defended it a decade ago now actively behave as though freedom of speech means nothing to them. Unfortunately this is bound to happen when one side pushes the boundaries of law and social contract too far in an attempt to enforce their beliefs. It was only a matter of time before everyone abandoned the principles of American freedom altogether. Using it only as a sham belief to garner votes and then turn around and abuse the very beliefs they held, the very beliefs the man who was killed by their opponents had preached and held up high enough to be willing to die for.
