Am I right by saying that the meme culture *in general* is dying? Like, 15 years ago the internet was full of memes. Sure, nobody older than 16 expected any specific meme to last long, but I feel like we just don't have memes anymore like we used to have. Like, in general. I wonder why.

Meme culture died with the dissemination of wojaks. The final nail in the coffin is short form brainrot content. No unit of culture lasts very long anymore in the public consciousness. The most popular units of culture were all created over a decade ago now. Minecraft, FNAF, Fortnite, Roblox. It's all ancient. It's like if kids in the late nineties was still listening to, fuck, Duran Duran.

Culture in general has stagnated massively.

I have a zoomer gf and they still have memes, they're just tiktok and Snapchat things. I suppose you could call them grends as well as they often involve adding your own spin or relying on an app to create. Modern memes are much shorter lived as well.

Meme culture was by creators for creators. With the proliferation of normalfags invading the internet they have pretty killed everything good about the internet while providing no value beyond "engagement" and ad views.
