So is Reddit for or against the death penalty now? They seem to oppose it for people actually proven to have committed and convicted of crimes like rape, murder, and child molestation because "all life is sacred" "who are we to judge" "two wrongs don't make a right". But suddenly support extrajudicial killing of people who've committed no actual crime but are "hateful". What's going on here?

I do not believe that states should be allowed to kill people, just incarcerate them.
On a more practical level, the statistics on false convictions in death penalty cases are shockingly bad and should give anyone pause.

So you're against states carrying out death sentences on a state level. Would you be for or against them if they were only done on a federal level?
Why should states not be able to give the death penalty? Most of the people getting sent to jail in the first place are guilty. They're not handing out death penalties for late book fees or unpaid parking tickets. At a minimum you had to murder someone or rape a dozen people.
do we continue playing cops and robbers? catching and then releasing animals who will just make prisons violent and less a place of punishment but more a daycare for society's most violent and anti social?

If someone's a bad enough bastard they can just stay in prison without parole. It's not ideal, but morally it's a lot more palatable to me than the state executing people. Moreover, it's at least somewhat reversible if there's been some kind of fuck up.

I'm Pro Capital Punishment in cases like terrorism because their death serves as a deterrent to other would-be terrorists

Otherwise, I'm Anti. Not because I value their life, but because I know rotting in prison is worse than a quick death

I disagree with zero death penalty. I am not trying to change your worldview though, you're free to have it and that is what you believe in. However, they would have to be absolutely positive and certain, without a shadow of a reasonable doubt, that the person they're executing did it and that they can not be redeemed.
A tier below death penalty is back breaking exhausting work like in the 50s. Some people society can do without.
