2 years in here you get a million dollars. You only get one video game.

Which one?

VR Chat I guess. Try to make as many friends as I can. Explain them my situation. I guess I'll tell them my plan to spend up to $1000 on flying out 10 friends to visit me for this party and check out the room I've been staying in the last 2 years when I check out.

idk to actually be good at video games where you would know what even to take is an accomplishment, look at the responses, skyrim, memecraft, they don't know. It takes being a connoisseur, /v/ is dumb, they just follow the herd.

i live like that already. thats literally my room

if i dont have internet? wooooooo.......
thats A LOT harder.....
id say fallout 4 with every mod downloaded and every xpac

i might go with factorio because i saw a lot of otherwise intelligent people drop 1k hours into it and its offline. id have to spend a day or two playing it 12 hours a day

but if i had to make the choice rn it would be fallout 4 + all mods

Any good gamer can 100 percent a game in 1-3 months. If the question was 6 months, most RPGs would do. But 2 years is longer than most games are really programmed to have content for.

The evolution of genre
Compare Final Fantasy on the Famicom, Final Fantasy 4 5 &6 on the Super Famicom Final Fantasy 7 8 &9 on the PSX and Final Fantasy 10 on the PS2. You'll see the rise and fall of JRPGs as a medium

I'm sure there's something there but I guess I just don't care enough about video games to be fully convinced.
I can't really shake the notion that at their core they're about as artful/deep as theme park rides. I'm not trying to be a dick or a snob or anything either.

most popular games are worthless slop but some have good writing/stories and explore deeper themes. The ones that actually make you think don't tend to be super popular.
Anonymous No.82548747
another interesting game to take would be a game you can speedrun

so super mario 64 would actually be in STRONG contention for the game, because if you have videos and text on all the tech and strats, then you can work on speednrunning the game pretty confidently for 2 years and even enjoy it

or whatever game youd want to speedrun. for me it would be super mario 64. id assume youd get all sorts of controllers and whatnot, just not internet
Anonymous No.82548773

if mods are allowed then either skyrim or minecraft
Anonymous No.82548780
maybe oot or majoras mask for the game actually. i love watching zfg speedrun it, and i love the music. that sounds dope actually. better than mario 64 it think

hrmm.... yeah ill go with that
The Legend of Zelda: Collector's Edition
this has oot, majoras, and some extras. my friend has this with his gamecube, i remember

now, i believe you can take this game and upload it to the wii u somehow, if you get a modded wii u. op DID NOT stipulate if you can mod your wii u or upload gamecube games on it, but ill assume you can, so thats what ill do with

on the wiiu and not on the gamecube because the frame data is considered preferable for majoras or oot speedrunning i believe

i would also like all sorts of videos and text on how to properly do tricks like blj's and isg's and whatnot and this and that trick

these games have better music than mario 64, and are richer as a game, in a sense

>but some have good writing/stories
yeah but that's not doing anything a movie/show/comic can't.
at the end of the day a game could have the writing and visual presentation of a masterpiece, but if it's not fun to play I'll drop it and consider it a failure.
The most diverse range of emotion a game can make me feel on it defining formal terms is from joy to frustration (fear as an outlier for horror games lol). I'm sure there's exceptions to this but it feels like they're far and few in between.

as an interactive media video games can tell stories that noninteractive media cannot. You're right that most video game stories would be better as a book/movie/etc, but there are stories that can't be told in those formats.

Think of it like a world you immerse yourself in
https://youtu.be/6xKWiCMKKJg?
https://youtu.be/WHUcHw7j2Mc?
Think about it as a kid. Watching Yu-Gi-Oh or Pokemon as a kid imagining the world and then playing the games.
It's like kids who read the Harry Potter books and then watched the movies in theatres. it captures your imagination. Multi media has that effect. Women had that experience with Twilight and 50 shades of gray instead of Video Games. Makes more sense now?

No online play? Tekken 7. There's like a zillion moves to memorize across 51 fucking characters. I would autistically beat the game with every character and learn their attacks in the practice mode.

Then there's treasure battle where you can spend all day earning cosmetics.

Why not 8? People are saying it sucks. Besides I like Negan.

>music
>books
>two movies or documentaries on DVD/week
>some jewellery making supplies or scale model making kits
>access to a small room with treadmill, exercise bike, a few kettle bells and weights and a yoga mat for 1 hour 4 times/week.
