inner monologue
I'm convinced that people who don't have an inner monologue aren't real
my brain is all hours of the day nonstop monologuing, it may be related to whatever I'm doing, but it also may just be random shit, and it'll always have incredibly vivid imagery with it.

i strongly feel that people who cannot do this aren't human in the same way as people who can

Schizophrenia. Plato also called it the daemon

you clearly dont know what im talking about fag
i mean if i am sitting down on the couch doing nothing my brain is constantly just thinking of random things, i think youre just a no-monologuecel trying to cope with your non-sentience

I can stop my inner monologue at will if I want to. I have somebody I haven't spoken to in a long time to thank for that, it's a rather useful skill.

i would even go further and say that if you don't have multiple voices in your head you're probably more animal than human

i wonder how many ppl this is. i didn't believe it was true when i heard about it tb honest. it explains a LOT of interactions though. i agree wholeheartedly btw

fr, ill be listening to someone lecture, and ill catch my mind just debating what my favorite animal is or what country id like to move to.
it sounds weird but can you also sorta like talk with it? like its the same as you but it operates on a different plane to your conscious thought,
a lot of my introspection and how i determine my opinions on things are semi-discussions with my inner monologue

People with no inner monologue aren't the ones who have something wrong with them. It's the ones who cannot stop talking to themselves in their head, spiraling in their thoughts until utterly meaningless things that don't matter to their life one bit are monolithic and debilitating.

The part that the acients thought your inner voice was some kind of god and not you yourself is true tho

this is what some people call 'introversion'.

That's normal, or if it isn't I experience the same. I think it's the subconscious communicating with the conscious, but don't quote me on that.

i mean how else do you come up with opinions or think of ideas? just raw concepts? theres no thought process there, just your mind banging hammers on the wall
>>82549510
well yeah if you think your inner thoughts are gods thats just actual schizophrenia
>>82549515
intraversion is not wanting to socially interact, i still socially interact, my brain just automatically is always thinking of stuff
Anonymous No.82549546 [Report] >>82549565
>>82549509
I also experienced that. Especially when I'm trying to carry a conversation in my head with someone I know that I'm not actually talking or texting with. If I were to further elaborate you'd probably call me a schizo and tell me to lay down the drugs.

but i feel like thats part of introspection, being able to monologue in your head allows you to think things through and see all the perspectives, without it i feel like making decisions would be purely impulse
Anonymous No.82549575 [Report]

are all your thoughts and actions merely based on the moment, whatever impulse is controlling your mongoloid brain?
you are no different to me than a baby chick on a conveyor leading to a shredder

>intraversion is not wanting to socially interac
that's the surface level/popular definition.
the avoidance of people is caused by what makes an introvert introverted, and not the introversion itself. their brain is already processing things regardless without people around. being around people just means excess load on the mind for the introvert.

do you think that when im talking to someone my mind is just off in a different space? if im actively engaged in a convo, and this goes for any actual human, we are thinking in the present moment about what we are discussing
Anonymous No.82549599 [Report]
>>82549565
That's different from what I was talking about but yes, what you mentioned is a function of the inner monologue.
Anonymous No.82549613 [Report]
i dont really have an inner monologue. my head is just empty much of the time. i cant really form thoughts at all. it's so terrifying to sit in the dark with nothing in my brain. i might kill myself. i so desperately wish i could be human.

Except you're like Bart from that Simpsons meme where Homer freaks out while he's smashing mustard packets with a hammer and getting mustard all over the floor and couch. none of it is actually necessary, it doesn't serve any purpose, and having not done it would have made everybody more well off. But in your infinite spiraling you convinced yourself that yes, it IS good and healthy to make things up in your head then impose those illogical thoughts onto yourself and the world. None of that positively or negatively affects creativity, that's just a lie you tell yourself because the lie is comfortable, healthy change is hard.

no. do you think adding water to a bucket that is already partially full replaces the water that's already in it?
Anonymous No.82549646 [Report] >>82550152
>>82549619
again you have no idea what im talking about, these thoughts arent "infinite spiraling", its all stuff my conscious brain would think and reason through, its like having a less emotion oriented copy of yourself to think at the same time as your main stream of thought

my mind isnt a bucket full of water, my thoughts dont just occur and then stay there for the rest of the day, if im in a convo my inner monologue is thinking of whatever is relevant to the convo

right so you believe no part of this 'inner monologue' is part of your passive state of being. also dreams just happen for no reason.

if im focused on something my main consciousness takes over, but im simply driving or walking my mind will just talk nonstop about random things

so you don't focus using your mind?
Anonymous No.82549745 [Report]
>>82549716
if im focusing on something my brain is constantly thinking in words and mental images about whatevers being said
for example if you told me about a bear fishing for salmon i would think words in my head about how the bear fishes, and see a very vivid mental picture of a bear in a stream fishing for salmon like picrel

You're conflating the idea that you need a constant flow of thoughts with being able to consciously and efficiently tackling problems of logic and reason. A common one that comes up is driving; the "conscious" non-npc thinks about the dangers, accidents, killing pedestrians, cops and they attribute reason and logic to thinking about and considering scenarios that are entirely marginal possibilities where the "npc" knows from examples and experiences that while driving is dangerous those dangers are minimal when you pay attention, drive courteously, and follow enough of the safety rules that in the extremely rare event you get into a serious accident your pragmatism and the provided safety features will make everything okay in the end. They don't need to debate themselves, the future isn't that mysterious or daunting, talking to themselves about it is entirely unnecessary because the risks are known, understood, and minimized.

what do you mean by inner monologue?
Is it just saying what you would say out loud in your head?
Anonymous No.82550285 [Report]

I know someone who says they don't have an inner monolougue yet she comes up with very funny, imaginitve ideas and concepts. She's also autistic and high IQ and has been scary bpd/schitzo as well as suicidally depressed (though she somehow 'grew' out of the scarier stuff which was truely horrifying to witness when she had an episode including violent rage or sometimes manipulitivly crule/homocidal). I reckon she thinks in a combonation or math and uncouncious monolougue. She used to hallucinate a demon who was basically her 'imaginary friend' that would tell her to do fucked up shit, she said he just popped up sometime when she was a little kid. I doubt she'd beleive me if I told her what she was actually like 10 years ago.
