It was where social events happened, bonding, community connections, and all that. As well, it gave the religiously inclined an outlet and helped everyone soothe minor anxieties and gave them a sense of purpose.

So you're another person with autism/anxiety, doing nothing? You don't even need to physically put yourself out there, have you never heard of apps or websites? I digress, I know that tough love, being nice or being rude won't help you, anything I say will just make you mad and you'll create excuses. And any advice will sound simple but obviously it's not simple because you're trapped in patterns of behaviour that no longer serve you, and fixing those patterns requires an actual desire to change, not performative desire. At a certain point you have to take responsibility for yourself and the only way to overcome this shit is exposure therapy until it is normalised, but you'll make excuses or tell me about your few past failures and act like they are all encompassing and absolute blah blah. So what do you want? To vent? It's not cathartic to vent. It may feel like it is, but it's just dwelling on your problems and giving them the perception that they are insurmountable. Didn't I mention excuses? Exposure therapy is doing shit, making mistakes, learning from it; it is realising that normal life goes on, that people make mistakes and do awkward shit all the time. And the more you do it the more you realise that it doesn't matter, that people move on and live. Our lives are often dictated by our perceptions and expectations and yours have become trapped. Don't do this performative catastrophism. You jump straight to threats of suicide because you always choose the path of least resistance. If you truly didn't care about your life then you'd actually try what I said because you wouldn't care at this point, you'd say fuck it, why not. But still you're conflating momentary embarrassment as being worse than literally ending your existence. Contrary to what people on this board think, I've seen people change and actually fix things. All it requires is changing mindset, which unfortunately can only be expressed in simplistic statements that make people angry and irl it does require actual effort and consistency to just give things a try and learn. But it is just easier to not, because you've already decided you know every eventuality or you'd just sabotage yourself because it's easier to follow the routine you're trapped in.
