The people who claim god is a woman must be right. Only a woman would put someone through so many shit tests.

The bible never actually condems lust, it just condems lasting after a MARRIED woman, which is just sensible advice

Married in those days basically meant a woman living with a man, so that has to be considered in the modern age as well

However there is literally a verse in the old testament that suggests if you start falling for a married woman it is better to to hire a prostitute for a loaf of bread instead

Replace the stone with you and the mountain with life
If I drop you off a mountain do you have free will

> I will make you be born unhappy so that no woman will love you.
> But I forbid you to have desires, even if you feel lonely. No masturbating or desiring women. You must remain unhappy.
> So I will make you be born this way so that you will not have a partner and it will be easier for you to sin. If you do, I will not love you and you will go to hell.

(I hope I have made myself clear, lol).

The amount of time energy and brainpower that gets wasted thinking about and debating 2000 year old Jewish fairy tales is truly staggering. When I think about how geniuses like Pascal wasted their time thinking about this crap instead of putting their gifted intellect to better use it reminds me that no amount of criticism or condemnation of religion is ever enough.

I thought covet means keeping/safe-guarding something, but it means desire?
"coveting secrets"
This means a desire to have secrets?

That'd all be well and good if Christian theology didn't maintain that humans have no free will over either finding salvation or overcoming their fallen state. Being saved is all up to divine grace, so unless you're one of the few Christian universalists, a Christian would have to accept that there are many people who were born fallen due to the apple, never receive justifying grace, and go to Hell without any choice over the matter. That isn't just Calvinism either, that's keeping with both monergistic (Lutheran, Reformed) and synergistic (Catholic, Orthodox, Methodist) soteriologies.

>a century later, Christianity largely exists as a cultural and political prop while more and more people consider themselves "not religious, but I like Buddhism"
Nietzsche was right once again
