How can this music be famous if it's utter shit?
Anonymous No.82814683
Is it still famous? I remember listening to it as a 15 year old wannabe punk/goth in 2005 and forgot about it pretty quickly after growing up.

they were coasting on their earlier punk credibility. it's radio rock by a band that already made it big as a niche act. they probably wanted to get their message out to the most amount of people since they were doing the anti war thing.

If you spend enough money telling people it's good and popular, women will just accept it as truth

Anon, I'm chud and I like it. I don't even pay attention to lyrics. English isn't my first language so I can do that if I don't actually attempt to translate it in my head. I simply listen to it for how it sounds.

OP have you ever heard of the term astroturf? That's what all of this political punk music ever was

>EVERYTHING IS ABOUT LE POLITICS
It was angsty garbage for teens before trump and it is still angsty garbage for teens now. every other fucking band was doing that garbage then too. I bet you mock shit like 3 days grace too while dry humping this which is the best part.

It's just because the lyrics has no depth. Even if It was meant to be punk rock it could have done it in a so much better way. Red Hot Chilli Peppers' "Californication" is a good countrt example.

Music against bush was better than music against trump.

Being shit is precisely what makes something popular. The worse something is the more normalfags like it. The entire genre of rap proves this. By far the worst sounding music ever to exist, and it is loved by all. It's probably kind of similar to isekai anime being popular. Rap takes no effort or skill so it seems like something anyone could do without trying. Isekai is the same thing, the most remarkable thing about the protagonist is he died after being a loser of some kind, wagie/neet/student.

Isn't it most pop music? Especially today?
If I want to listen to song for its lyrics, I listen to soundtracks from games like Far Cry 5 cult choir or Hereditors of Arcadia from Fire Emblem Echoes, and ballads because they tell story instead of throwing random muh feels, muh sex sentences.

>>82815134
Not necessarily. Lot of it simply sounds good and is catchy. You don't need lyrics for song to be good. Otherwise movies wouldn't be using lyricless music to create atmosphere.
As for rap, it's not even music, it's abomination.

rap is easier to stomach if you remember it's poems set to music vs anything else.

How would (you) improve the music against trump?
And no, you can't copy the music from then

Not really. There is actually such genre as sung poetry. Rap is simply some nigger shit.

Punk overtaking prog was a disaster for music, shunning complex compositions to obscurity while mainstream rock became the same few chords churned out by whiny champagne socialists

I love American idiot, 21st century breakdown. They are amazing rock operas. I very much enjoyed revolution radio as well. I never got into Uno dos Tres or anything past that though
