God, I really do deserve a medal though. He has a nice mother that loves him, which Misaki herself doesn't have and envies. He has a cool friend to do fun things with, which again Misaki herself doesn't have. His parents support him. He was born and lives in Japan which is basically life on easy mode too. Arguably, Misaki is more pathetic than Satou. Yes she's a good looking girl that lives in a fucking nice ass house, but she is so terminally, desperately lonely and has parental issues. Satou having family and at least one friend that cares about him makes a world of a difference. Hell I'm even envious of his apartment.

it's actually a great cartoon about a social issue they have in Japan. would put it up there with Ken Loach kinos tbqh.

I watched this when I was a hikki in my teenage years I didn't know what was happening to me and this show really helped. I don't expect someone who's never been in this situation to understand. It's not like a teenage girl who say she's go ADHD because she want to do 2 things at once it's almost schizophrenic. The author try to depict it in the show when Satou go out and he think everybody is looking at him and snickering. If I watched this today and it never would've happened to me I would probably think like you but I've never experienced something similar since then and you couldn't imagine what it feel like unless you've had paranoia episode or something like that. I guess a lot of people feel like this show only represent a loser who don't want to go outside and go work which is why a lot of loser think it's their show and they are like satou but on the contrary people who are in this situation want to go back to a normal life as much as possible.
