is it to late to learn to code?

it's not too late to learn, but it's too late to make a career out of it

It's too late to make a career out of anything except the army and prostitution

For passion? Never too late
For a job? You might want to learn how to weld or something

I'm not arguing with you at all but can you explain why that is?

ai will make just about all coding jobs obsolete. the people who were able to make a career of it got in at the right time, and even then, half of them are just copy pasting shit from stackoverflow. it's a great skill to learn and can be a great hobby for independent projects, but it's just not a viable career path anymore for 99% of folks. you have to be capable of genuinely revolutionary work that doesn't otherwise exist and make it fully functional to stand apart from an llm

Too many people not enough jobs. Of course, the vast majority of them are incompetent, but the small percent who are still outnumber the amount of entry-level jobs available. If you're thinking of going to uni for a CS degree, electrical engineering would be much better (assuming you're in the U.S.).

You can still do it, but as a hobby. Now, as a career: no. AI and jeets have taken over that, and the ones who are not jeets have been there forever and are are old, so they'll eventually retire and be replaced by jeets.

AI slop is shitty though. I'm actually the one who is going to make programming obsolete and everything is going to keikaku

>I'm going to be the best coder ever!!!
>When AI can output code at a very quick rate
>pajeets are smart enough to do error correcting
Unless you are doing it as a hobby, don't bother.

>AI slop is shitty though.
Yeah but everything is getting shittier so it isn't like AI code stands out.

>too late to make a career out of it
it's been like that for years. coding is an auxiliary skill atp where they supplement real careers in literally any other STEM field.

Yes you can (I'm a software engineer at 25). I only finished studying 2 years ago. The market is saturated but most programmers especially fresh grads are so shit at coding its laughable. They hardly know anything about programming languages, algorithms you can tell most kids now in University rely on this LLMs to do most of their projects but their Uni projects are fucking easy.

Ask an LLM to recreate an entire system like Microsoft sharpening IMPOSSIBLE literally. Get good at programming understand computing in and out, data structures, solid principles, design patterns, networking etc. Pick a language and get fucking good at it know it in and out the same way people memorise the quran you need to be dedicated.

Do all that and I guarantee you'll be better than over 70% of people in the market.

Anyone who says you can't get a job in computing is lying and gatekeeping. Copilot is good enough to help out with small projects once you get thousands of lines of code its impossible to read all of that in one go.

You should definitely go for it

It's too late to be trying to start to do anything with the aim of trying to make a single cent. Best you can hope for is to get taken in as a slave for a rich master.

If you want to code for fun, I recommend trying out GDevelop for making games and AutoHotKey for automating tasks.
