I was bullied for being ugly from a very young age to the point that I thought it was impossible for anyone to ever be attracted to me, so when a girl that I had a massive crush on would hug me and even hold my hand to go to class with her every day the possibility of me having a chance with her never even entered my mind. I was depressed about how I could never be with her while that was happening. It wasn't until years that high school that I even thought back in hindsight that I might have had a chance and should have asked her out.

Same exact shit happened to me at the same age. Was bullied constantly in middle school. Entered high school and a cute blonde blue eyed girl started talking to me, started walking around everywhere with me, hugging me and stuff in the classroom/hallway. My brain however decided that the logical reason for this is "my classmates are all in on an elaborate method of bullying, as soon as i confess to the girl that i like her they will mock me and she will reveal she was just messing with me". So i decide to do nothing.
A couple months pass, and when i'm at some competition in another school, the blonde girl's best friend tells me "why haven't you asked her out, she has a massive crush on you". To any normal human this would solidify the fact the girl likes them. To me it confirmed "yes, they are bullying me surely". So i continued doing nothing. This went on for 2 YEARS. She even KISSED ME at a house party in front of everyone. AND I STILL DID NOTHING AND ACTED LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED.
In senior year she shaved her head, completely stopped talking or interacting with me and got a boyfriend who was a knockoff offbrand version of me. Guy looked almost exactly like me, except he was half a foot shorter and had bad cystic acne.

Later on i found out that my autism made her insanely insecure and depressed and she had to go to therapy because of it. Now she's engaged to the knockoff guy. I saw her at a music festival this summer (with the guy, i was alone because i'm autistic and go to concerts alone). We stared at each other for 30 seconds without saying anything. Then she said "it's been a long time" and i said "yeah" and she just said "bye" and walked away. I am a 24yo kissless virgin.
