All the career fields I've been considering going into are either insanely competitive or require networking/sustained human interaction (which I'm too socially awkward to do). Even some of the volunteering positions need references.
I was considering doing a less prestigious or lower paying job, but my parents (who I'm currently on good terms with and who I would like to continue being on good terms with) expressed extreme disappointment at that idea, so that's probably out of the question.
At this point, I'm kinda considering changing my major to something engineering related (even though I don't particularly care for physics or math) since they seem to have better job prospects.
It's unfortunate that good social skills can get you farther in the job market than good technical skills, even in fields with minimal social interaction.
