My secondhand jack froze up while trying to lift my van to change a tire. A replacement jack I bought also froze up. I'm very lucky my extremely worn tire with the bad ball bearing still made it 1500 miles across the continent after returning from Asia last year. It got gouged open by a damaged cattle guard, then somebody patched it up, stole the TPMS sensor, and it kept going.

As a pedestrian, I never interfere in other people's car troubles. The last thing some broken-down motorist foid wants is a pedestrian male (a class she is always safe from inside her locked car) suddenly honing in on her while she's outside her safe space.

As an unpaid male assistant, I'd stand there and tell her what she needs to do and make her do it. Get dirty, bitch. It's not my car, I'm not going to lie in the gutter to fix it unless you pay me. Chances are such a girl would just abandon the car and order a rideshare to her destination, maybe calling it in to a shop to have it towed in and get the tire replaced. Roadside assistance is for females BTW. If you're male and break down somewhere remote, they will not come and pick you up, because they'll only pay $100 for a tow, and most rural tows cost more than that.
