vulnerable narcissism
is vulnerable narcissism a real thing or just another example of meaningless psychbabble?
i was accused of being a narcissist by someone recently, so i decided to actually look into what it was and found that its generally categorised into two types, grandiose and vulnerable. grandiose is essentially what everybody knows a narcissist to be. someone who is egotistical, boisterous, full of themselves etc. but the idea of a "vulnerable narcissist" just seems to me like a collection of loosely defined traits that could really be applied to anyone who is outwardly meek, sensitive and dissatisfied with their current situation. sure, i found a lot of the characteristics could be applied to me, but that same diagnostic method of "bro i literally act like that" could be applied to every other loosely defined "disorder", which is why self diagnosis of rare mental diseases is so common among people who dont actually suffer from it. it also seems to me that the behavioural and cognitive patterns of "vulnerable" and grandiose narcissists are so distinct from one another that they shouldn't even be grouped under the same narcissist label. curious to hear what robots think thoughever
