I've recently heard preaching against a cultural doctrine (spread by tv, bad commentaries and such) that Nephilim here are the children of women and angels, aside from one friend hinting at this, I've not really come across it in person, it's not something you would take directly from the bible at least. I'll give a short summary here, but this sermon makes a good argument against it:

John 1:12 (classic salvation verse) states that
>But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
That is, when you believe on the name of Christ, you're born again, and become a Christian. Sons of God is expressly defined as being Christian here. Furthermore, it's stated elsewhere (Heb 1:5)
>For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?
Denying that angels could = Sons of God.
Thirdly Luke 24:39 says, when Christ appears unto the disciples after resurrecting
>Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have.
If Spirits don't have flesh, they can't really "come in unto" (another way to refer to sex) the daughters of men.
So now we see
>There were giants in the earth in those days; and also after that, when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.
sons of God = OT Christians (I hesitate to say jews, because that's easily misunderstood here (as people conflate OT jews who had faith in the messiah, with those who would label themselves that today, but reject Christ)), daughters of men = unsaved/ non-Christian/ atheist/ agnostic women.
If you've read the rest of the OT/NT, you know God doesn't like this mixing of the saved with the unsaved.
