To play devils advocate they never state exactly what it was that was unattractive. It could have been a chance Wilkins looking guy that doesn't shower, has infected rotting cuts and breath that could kill a small animal or someone who was an actual biohazard to sleep with. These people are surprisingly common, they just don't go outside so you never see them. I doubt she rejected some 3/10 short fat guy because he was ugly. They where probably deformed and filthy.
