>go to zoo
>look at animals
>oh they are not outside yet
>go to a different animal
>oh it's just sleeping and doing nothing
>go to a different animal
>oh it's just eating and not interacting with people who are watching it

are zoos a scam?

a zoo is just torturing animals for humans amusement. these animals were made to rove over the wilderness only for man to come and imprison them in tiny chambers until they die of boredom

yeah they stopped putting the animals in tiny cages where they developed psychosis but could get right up next to them for a close look. the animals have an improved quality of life now in more natural style enclosures, but the trade off is that most animals don't actually like being around humans and will do their best to hide from, avoid, or ignore humans viewing the enclosures. the more ethical you make a zoo the less likely you are to actually see animals up close

Try nature centers anon! The one by me has a friendly possum (it is special needs and cannot live in nature) and it runs around and jumps up on the glass basically backflipping for attention

they made more sense when you didn't have TV/Internet and that was the only way to see the animal in motion. Still a site to see when it all come together but it's value compared to watching nature documentaries is the same as seeing a photo realistic painting of the Grand Canyon and a high quality photo of the Grand Canyon, one is a far grater waste of time and resources for a worse result.

I think monkeys and apes are the only interesting animals at zoos because of this. They do at least somewhat interact with the people watching them. I guess seeing a giraffe irl was pretty cool too due to the size. That's about it.
