a few million, anyway. this wasn't a purchase meant to turn a profit in a year or two, it was likely intended to break even 5+ years down the line and then be a money factory afterward. he's just doing the right thing and getting the pricing structure worked out early instead of doing the michaelsoft xbox shit of massive price hikes after guaranteeing a certain price

It is likely near but not quite.
Purchasing twitter was more about the culture-war than it was about profit. Pre-elon twitter would ban you permanently for saying fag or even just being slightly mean. It was a complete hugbox and akin to reddit with just a different consumption format.
It is more similar to this place now than ever. And that's a good thing.
