if you're a loser and not an alcoholic
what the fuck are you even doing?
drink up!
Anonymous No.83052346 [Report]
Why the fuck would I want to wake up with a headache all the time? No idea how alkies do this to themselves when there are so many better hard drug alternatives.

I was drinking but I want to continue to drink for the forseeable future so I'm managing my liver by giving it breaks.

>Charles Bukowski
Ham on Rye is one of my favorite (meaningless) books. I read it years ago; I remember staying up all night just to finish it in one sitting. This guy led a crazy life and has a chill way of writing about it.

Bukowski genuinely changed my life
>Don't try, do!
I'm doing it, old man! And I fucking love it!

>lived his life to the fullest
no he didnt. he was a clever guy who wasted his intellect doing menial jobs and killing his braincells with alcohol and fist fights. he didnt even become famous until his life was basically over and the rest he just spent having sex with ugly prostitutes and listening to the radio

Didn't sleep very good last night and had maybe one too many but I will probably be drinking later. Wish I was a drunk writer like this guy

look. romantizing decay in a poetic manner can be very beautiful, but surely there are better ways to spent your life, right?

He was fully himself in the most honest way possible not everyone can say that they lived that way. He was a drunk not an academic. This brutal honesty is reflected in all of his writing. I think he's a great example of outsider artist shaking up the established norms of a medium and getting huge recognition for it.

Lame. Asserting your will is more interesting than trying to fit in socially.

I'm assuming you are a middle schooler who hasn't been fucked by life

sure he managed to transform his shitty life into beautiful poetry, but being a drunken bum constantly fucking himself over and working shitty jobs is not *asserting your will*. doesnt have anything to do with fitting in, just means that being chronically intoxicated and self-destructive is a shitty existence. not to mention that the literary bukowski is *not* reflective of his reality, but are creative confessions at best, he even said so himself

>better ways
there literally is nothing more to life than this
we've got fit gymbros, we've got emancipated monks, we've got drunkards like Bukowski

There is genuinely no single "better" life, it... just is. Life is just is, and it's up to you yourself to determine what kinda life you wanna live

What's it like being an entitled middle schooler?

He just did what was natural to him and wrote about it he's the most uncomplicated writer. The implication is NOT that his lifestyle was cool or good or anything. Just that these were the conditions of his life. He kind of dismantles what being a writer even means and makes it completely unpretentious. Even a regular blue collar bar fly guy can write incredible poetry and semi autobiographical stories.

I've recently developed health issues that prevent me from drinking most alcohol, but somehow I'm alright with drinking stronger alcohol (vodka, whiskey, gin).

I find alcohol to be a shitty drug. All drugs that I have access to are shitty, so I usually dont bother with them.

Every once in a while I will drink a six pack and wreck my sleeping pattern for the night. In the end I remember why drinking is kinda meh.
